Welcome to SimplyWrite! These terms govern your use of our writing platform. By using SimplyWrite, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.

What You Can Do

  • Write, edit, and organize unlimited essays and drafts
  • Publish content to your personal subdomain
  • Publish anonymously to share ideas without revealing your identity
  • Export your content in multiple formats (Markdown, HTML, JSON)
  • Invite team members to collaborate (on applicable plans)
  • Like and comment on published essays

What You Cannot Do

  • Publish content that violates others' intellectual property rights
  • Post illegal content, hate speech, or harassment
  • Use automation to create spam or abuse the platform
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or private content
  • Abuse anonymous publishing to harass or defame individuals
  • Resell, redistribute, or commercialize the service without permission

Your Content

Ownership

You own your content. SimplyWrite does not claim ownership of essays or other content you create. We only use your content to provide and improve our services.

License to SimplyWrite

By publishing content on SimplyWrite, you grant us a limited license to display, distribute, and promote your published work on our platform. This license ends when you delete or unpublish your content.

Your Responsibility

You are responsible for the content you create and publish. Ensure you have the rights to use any material included in your essays.

Subscriptions & Payments

Free Tier

SimplyWrite offers a free tier with limited features. Free accounts may have restrictions on the number of essays, publishing options, or team features.

Paid Plans

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly or yearly through Polar
  • Lifetime plans are one-time purchases with perpetual access
  • Prices are in USD unless otherwise stated
  • We may offer promotional pricing or discounts

Cancellation & Refunds

  • Cancel your subscription any time from your account settings
  • Access continues until the end of your billing period
  • Refunds may be considered within 14 days of purchase for annual plans
  • Lifetime plans are generally non-refundable after 7 days

Team Workspaces

  • Team owners are responsible for managing member access and permissions
  • Team content is owned by the creating member unless otherwise agreed
  • Removing a team member does not automatically delete their contributions
  • Team plans may have seat limits based on subscription tier

Anonymous Publishing

Anonymous publishing is a privilege, not an abuse mechanism:

  • Anonymous essays must still comply with all content guidelines
  • We may reveal author identity if required by valid legal process
  • Repeated abuse may result in loss of anonymous publishing privileges
  • Anonymous aliases cannot impersonate real people or brands

Enforcement

We reserve the right to:

  • Remove content that violates these terms
  • Suspend or terminate accounts for serious or repeated violations
  • Report illegal activity to appropriate authorities
  • Cooperate with legal investigations when required

We aim to handle violations fairly and proportionally. Minor issues may receive a warning before any action is taken.

Service Availability

  • We strive for high availability but cannot guarantee 100% uptime
  • Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance when possible
  • We are not liable for data loss—please maintain your own backups
  • Features may change; we'll provide notice for significant changes

Limitation of Liability

SimplyWrite is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding any claim.
